Engineering Theatre «AKHE»

It was founded in 1989 by artists, members of the underground theater “YES-NO” Boris Ponizovsky: Maxim Isaev, Pavel Semchenko and Vadim Vasilyev. Based in the well-known Art Center “Pushkinskaya-10”, the members of the group continued to paint, shot films, participated in various shows and most importantly created in the yards, galleries, on the stairs and in workshops unique performances-performances, which brought “AKHE” fame and recognition of artistic circles.

n the mid-1990s, the collective left Vadim Vasiliev, and the remaining Pavel Semchenko and Maxim Isaev began to use theatrical space and the theater’s laws more and more. Since that time, the AHE Group has been a regular participant in theater festivals around the world and a partner in many Russian projects (Slava Polunin, DEREVO, Formal Theater, Tovstonogov’s Bolshoi Theater, Alexandrinsky Theater) and foreign ones (Lantaaren, Toihous, Austria) , Project Theater (Germany), Kampnagel (Germany), Teatr KANA (Poland), etc.) of the collectives.

From 1995 to the present, the AKHE Engineering Theater is a regular participant and nominee of theater events, projects and festivals around the world.
