The Orenburg Regional State Puppet Theater began its regular activity in 1935.
In March 2006 the collective celebrated its 70th anniversary. The season ended with a five-day corporate scientific and practical seminar “Regional Puppet Theater: Time for Change”.
In 2007, the program “Kukloterapiya” was developed, designed specifically for sick children (poorly hearing, poorly seeing, with cerebral palsy and other diseases), living in boarding schools and unable to perceive the work of theatrical art together with other diseases children. The theater project aroused interest among teachers, psychologists, medical specialists, interested in the Orenburg social protection department.
In May 2014, within the framework of the Year of Culture in Russia, with the support of the Government of the Orenburg Region, the Union of Theater Workers of the Russian Federation, the Orenburg Regional State Puppet Theater hosted the International Festival “Gostiny Dvor”. The right to receive guests was granted to the festival of puppet theaters “Little Prince” with performances for young people and adults.
The theater tours, takes part in Russian and international theatrical festivals. Today in the playbill of the theater more than 30 performances for children and adults. Critics point out the ensemble character of the performances, high plastic culture, the ability of actors to work in different stylistic manners.
