The Ulyanovsk Regional Puppet Theater was founded on April 1, 1944 by artists of the Moscow operetta Nikolay Valentinovich and Marina Nikolaevna Missyura.

The repertoire policy of the theater is oriented to different age groups. The playbill of the theater has performances on Russian folk tales, as well as classical works of contemporary and foreign authors. Today there are more than 30 productions in the repertoire of the theater, different in themes, genre and artistic expressiveness.

The Ulyanovsk Puppet Theater is a participant of all-Russian and international festivals. The Puppet Theater successfully implements international projects: in September 2012 the laboratory “Young directors for children” was held in the theater, in April 2013, within the framework of the Year of Germany in Russia with the support of the Goethe Institute, the Ulyanovsk Puppet Theater became the organizer of the Russian-German creative and business laboratory “Theater-Class”, is working with foreign directors.
