Nizhny Tagil Puppet Theatre

Nizhny Tagil Puppet Theatre is the oldest professional theatre in Nizhny Tagil. It was founded in 1944 during the Great Patriotic War by the New Theatre company evacuated from Leningrad. The theatre had changed its address several times before it moved to its present building in Lenin Prospect, 14.

Today Nizhny Tagil Puppet Theatre venerates its traditions but at the same time is ready for brave experiments, facilitated by the young company, new creative management and talented departments. There are 55 staff members in the theatre, 12 of them are the creative company. Honoured Artists of the Russian Federation Svetlana Shibneva and Vladimir Shibnev work in the theatre. They are conveyors of knowledge and mastery for the young actors.
The company of Nizhny Tagil Puppet Theatre regularly participates in theatre festivals, prestigious prize competitions, creative laboratories; it has won certificates, diplomas and awards. The theatre takes an active part in socially significant projects of Nizhny Tagil and Sverdlovsk Region. Nizhny Tagil Puppet Theatre has a vast tour experience and hosts performance groups from other cities. The theatre has 30 plays on its list of productions for theatre goes aged 3 to 99.
